Phone and Mac sync

Keep chats and folders in sync between your phone and LM Mini Home so you can continue on either device.

Answer first

Pair the phone with LM Mini Home (Share with phone). When asked Keep chats in sync?, turn it on. Threads and folders then stay in sync over the same encrypted connection, so you can start on the phone and finish on the Mac.

This is a main reason Home exists. Remote access lets you reach the Mac. Sync lets the work follow you.

What you need

Sync is for Home, not for Windows/Linux Connect.

Turn it on

First pairing

After a successful Home pair, the phone asks Keep chats in sync?

The prompt describes what it will do (phone-only copy, Mac-only copy, or merge both sides).

Later

  1. On the phone: Settings → Remote Access
  2. Find Sync chats with Home
  3. Turn the switch on. You should see a short “chats and folders are now in sync” confirmation

The row only appears when this phone is paired with LM Mini Home.

What syncs

SyncsDoes not sync
Conversations and their messagesApp settings, themes, API keys
Folders (including names and covers)Downloaded on-device models
Deletes (removing a chat/folder on one side)Personas, voice packs, image workflows

If the same chat exists on both sides, the newer edit wins.

How to use it

  1. Leave Share with phone running on the Mac (menu bar is fine).
  2. Chat on the phone or on Home.
  3. Open the other device — the thread should be there, including folders.

Give it a few seconds after you send or move a chat. If the Mac was asleep, wake it and wait for Share with phone to come back.

Turn it off

Same switch: Settings → Remote Access → Sync chats with Home. Existing copies stay on each device; they just stop updating each other.

If sync fails

You’ll see a toast like “Couldn't sync. Open Share with phone on your Mac and try again.”

  1. Home is open; Share with phone is on
  2. Phone still shows as paired under Remote Access (re-scan QR if you reinstalled)
  3. Toggle sync off and on to retry
  4. Same Wi‑Fi is not required — this uses the Home pairing, not LAN LM Studio
